What we do

We currently milk 600  Kiwi-Cross cows year-round. Our cowshed hasn’t had a day off since it was first built in 2010!

Our mission is to produce superior quality food, which we believe starts from the soil up. We put a lot of focus on soil health as that’s where it all starts.

Healthy soil = healthy grass = healthy cows = healthy milk = superior product

To achieve this we only use biological fertilisers sprayed in liquid form. Spreading in liquid form instead of granular form enables us to add bio-active organisms into the fertiliser regime. This bio-activity is what we say ‘feeds the soil’ and helps reverse the damage from years of spreading phosphate heavy fertilisers, which was and still is the conventional regime.

Pest control- We have a rigorous regime focusing on possums and mustelidaes.

Native tree planting – We have been working with the Kaipara Moana Remediation scheme for the last few years.  In 2021 we planted 10,000 native trees on the farm. We also planted around 400 exotics all over the farm, for biodiversity and stock shade. In 2022 we planted 15,000 natives and in 2023 we planted 47,000.

July 2021 – It might not look like much now, but thousands of Manuka trees are planted in this valley.
August 2023. This is the same area, just looking in the other direction. The Manuka trees have certainly grown!
